On 4th October 2023, Kenya’s President William Ruto reshuffled eight members of his cabinet and folded the foreign affairs ministry into the office of the chief minister. Moses Kuria, Trade CS, was moved to the Ministry of Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management. In August 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta directed all Cabinet Secretaries to take a 14-day break amid speculations over an impending reshuffle in the Executive. The decision was taken to allow the ministers to have some rest having been engaged since the year began.

Moses Kuria has been moved from Ministry of Trade to Public Service, his place taken by Rebecca Miano, the outgoing East African Community CS, in President William Ruto’s first cabinet reshuffle.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi will now take over the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs replacing Alfred Mutua who will now oversee the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.

Eight Cabinet Secretaries were affected by the new changes including Rebecca Miano, Peninah Malonza, Alice Wahome, Zacharia Njeru, Alfred Mutua, and Aisha Jumwa.

Alice Wahome moved to Lands as Zacharia Njeru took over as Water CS; Peninah Malonza moved to EAC, and Aisha Jumwa to the Ministry of Gender.

Jumwa’s Ministry of Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage is a newly created ministerial portfolio.

Isaac Mwaura has been appointed Government Spokesperson, he will be deputized by Mwanaisha Chidzuga and Gabriel Muthuma.

Ex-Kemsa CEO Terry Ramadhani has been appointed as Deputy Ambassador for India, as President Ruto nominates new ambassadors for Pretoria, Addis Ababa, Beijing, Vienna, Seoul, and Paris.

Isaac Parashina has also been nominated to be High Commissioner to Abuja, a position that has been vacant since the death of Wilfred Machage in February last year.
