Have you ever worked in a team, where you had nothing in common except the work?
We looked at each other: the new 🌟 change project team
It was a bit of a motley crew
Representatives from 3 different consultancies plus a client team
Diverse backgrounds, ages, experiences…
🖥 Some heavily tech-focused
▶ Some process driven
🧡 Others targeting culture change (hello!)
Strong personalities
A command and control culture
Pressure from the top
A need to get up to speed and deliver quickly
🤖 It felt stiff and mechanical at first
🎉 But that turned out to be one of the best team experiences I ever had
Thanks to a great leader who made sure we ticked all the boxes
And also got to know each other and develop deep trust and respect by:
Learning about and appreciating our diverse skills and attributes
Managing constructive conflict
Supporting and coaching one another in unfamiliar areas
Involving everyone in decisions
Encouraging flexible leadership
Having some laughs
In the end, the results spoke for themselves
🤣 And it was a lot of fun
High-performing teams typically have these core features:

💎 Clear 2-way communication
💎 Continuous learning and improvement
💎 Trust and respect
The other characteristics are necessary to create a well-oiled machine
They will get the job done fine
But weaving actions to build trust and respect into everything
Adds ✨ magic to make it human
And deliver well beyond expectations
