Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán – Known as a notorious Mexican drug lord and former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, one of the most powerful and dangerous drug trafficking organizations in the world. He was born on 4th April 1957, in La Tuna, Mexico.
El Chapo gained international notoriety for his involvement in the drug trade and his ability to evade law enforcement authorities for many years. He was known for his elaborate escapes from prison, including a dramatic escape in 2015 when he tunneled out of a maximum-security prison in Mexico.
In January 2016, El Chapo was recaptured by Mexican authorities and subsequently extradited to the United States. In February 2019, he was found guilty on multiple charges, including drug trafficking, money laundering, and involvement in organized crime. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus 30 years.
His capture and conviction marked a significant victory in the fight against drug cartels and organized crime in Mexico. El Chapo’s life and criminal activities have also been the subject of books, documentaries, and television series.
